More Passengers Now Use Bozeman Yellowstone International (BZN) Than Any Other Montana Airport

BOZEMAN, MT (June 17, 2013). For the first time, Bozeman Yellowstone International Airport (BZN) had more passenger enplanements and deplanements than any other airport in Montana during a twelve consecutive month period. According to statistics from the Montana Department of Transportation, 879,221 passengers passed through the Airport’s terminal between June 2012 and May 2013 surpassing all other airports in Montana for the same period. This milestone is a direct result of collaboration between the Airport and the communities of Bozeman, Belgrade, Big Sky (including Big Sky Resort, Moonlight Basin and the Yellowstone Club) and West Yellowstone. It is also due to long-term partnerships forged with Montana State University, the Yellowstone Association and the Yellowstone Park Foundation. “We are fortunate to have so many entities in Southwest Montana that understand the importance of air service to the local economy. Without their help, we would not be celebrating this momentous occasion,” said Brian Sprenger, Airport Director.
In just three years passenger traffic has increased 28% or nearly 200,000 passengers and has elevated BZN to one of the top 120 airports in the nation in terms of passengers (out of nearly 500). Much of this increase has been due to additional non-stop destinations including Portland, OR, Los Angeles, Phoenix-Mesa and New York/Newark. In addition, expanded access to hubs and destinations by network airlines, Delta, United and Alaska as well as low fare carriers Frontier and Allegiant Air have contributed to the growth. Scott Humphrey, Deputy Airport Director added, however, that “the Airport will not rest on past success and will continue to work closely with our communities, chambers of commerce and tourism organizations to promote awareness, visitation, economic development and global access to the region.”
